How does your mindset affect your financial success?

In my case my mindset does affect my financial success, because at a young age my dad taught me how to manage and save money for things I wanted. So at an early age I got that teaching because when I was 5 I would go to the snack bar that used to be located on the ground floor and I would go back to the truck to do homework or just wait and listen to music. Since I was a little girl my parents always taught me to save and there were times when I needed my own money to get things I want, so an example is the fact that I would crush aluminum cans and turn them in for money. Even my grandmother that didn’t work and she was living alone, old as hell, and being a badass in her 80’s and on my birthday’s she would give me $5 or $10 dollars and to me that was great. I never looked at the amount as some snobs that are like “thats it!” Nah I knew my grandma and for her to spare even that little is great that she remembers my birthday!

I guess that is the one thing that sets me aside from my friends and going to school that they say costs an arm and a leg. In other words I went to Gallup Catholic School where all the rich kids would go if you grew up during the time that I was there. Just a token navajo with a bunch of other kids that were not native. However, I have always travelled here and there. So having money was something I saved for especially when we would go somewhere like the State fair. I mean I would do various things to earn money from crushing cans like I mentioned. My dad also gave me my own allowance so I would save that along with cleaning the house, cleaning someone else’s house, pulling weeds, in other words I was not lazy and if I wanted it, I would try to earn it. I guess you can say that is the same way that I pursue many things in my life. In other words I learned something great that would help me in everything I have accomplished.

My first checking account and card was from Bank of America, I was 14, but I already knew what it was like to have money and I have carried that on until now. I think that I have carried my financial success and continue to do so, but now it’s a new journey because now I am officially 100% disabled and it took me 25 years to get this and I am just living life to the fullest. Now I can do whatever the hell I want and believe me I am going to get everything I have worked for and I get to share it with my husband as well being that we are both retired. Now for the new goals and investments that we make are coming soon!
