Kiko the 1st Rottweiler

I mentioned in a previous post that when my husband and I moved into our new house which was way bigger than what we moved away from on Dindinger. Besides the house being bigger, we now had. bigger yard with a fence line and a rolling gate that we can lock. So I thought we need. guard dog, especially since I have always trusted dogs and walked my land with them when I was younger, but now I have the choice of dog I want. I started looking online and found just the dog I wanted, but was located in Deming, New Mexico, which is about an hour a half away, but I wanted this Rottweiler. Once I got to the shelter I mentioned that I was the one that called about this dog and they showed him to me. They said that he was a mix, but I don’t think he was, but he was only 6 months and pretty big.

I had driven in my white GMC Sierra and loaded him into the back and he was heavy, because he was really big and tall. Like I could ride him if he was strong enough, but what stood out on him was he was a Rottweiler, and he had his tail still, which if you know you know. At the time of his adoption, I can’t remember the name that he had, but I decided to name him “KIKO”, and I got that name from the movie “Drive By!”. It is about a big brother that tried to take care of his little brother who ended up getting back stabbed by someone that became Power hungry and after he is killed his little brother finds out who did so. When that moment comes, the little brother kills his brothers backstabber. I also loved the fact that one of my in-laws thought the name was about me stating the dog is kisses.

Unfortunately Kiko only lasted 6 years, he did father some pups that were tall as well, with our other dog Shnookums, a border collie mix. The reason that he only lived that long was because I guess there was a rogue Rottie running around and it was known for attacking and eating small dogs. Animal control came to our house and stated that he needed to be put down because he was the dog they were reporting, so my husband had to go to the pound and they euthanized him. A couple months passed and there was something wrong with my Direct TV, which I needed an upgraded dish. So a technician comes by and I watch as he works and we start talking. He mentions that he lives just down the street, but I told him about what had happened to Kiko, because he had mentioned he had a Rottweiler too. Then I said “not sure who’s Rottie it was, but it was known to attack small dogs.” He got quiet and ends up saying “Oh! My God, that is totally my dog and has been reported a couple times,” at that moment my heart broke to find out that my dog was killed because he was misidentified. So much hell!!!!
