It’s a good thing I lost my virginity before I went to Korea!!

That title isn’t just a good thing, it was a great thing, because if I would have been raped first, that would probably have been the way I would have lost my virginity, but I am glad I chose the perfect person. I wish I knew where my first fiance is, because I met him at AIT (Advanced Individual Training) when I was stationed in Ft. Gordon, Georgia which has been changed to Ft. Eisenhower. At the time I was a 31 Lima aka Cable Systems Installer/Maintainer, while Arthur was a 31 Uniform at the time, which is a Signal Support Systems Specialist. However, Signal Corp. is not a 31 series MOS anymore, because they have made it the 25 series, so I would be a 25 Lima instead. Well what made Arthur so unique was the factor that I was like the token Navajo in my company, but there was one night that I was playing basketball with the guys and all of a sudden, someone yells “are you Navajo?”

So I run to the guy and he tells me that he is a full Navajo and at the time I was 18 and he was 25. Eventually I would fall for him more and more. At the time I had a cellphone, which was an old flip Motorola phone and one day when we went to eat at Burger King in the PX and he grabs my phone and enters his number. Of course I was surprised, because this was the first Navajo I had seen since I left Gallup. I fell more for him, because he had told me his clans and I was hooked. Of course I would end up leaving first, but before that happened I was exchanging calls to him and back, then one day when we were talking to each other and I stated or asked “would you take my virginity?” He said he would, but he still has a few more weeks before he goes on leave. I left in October and came home to start home town recruiting.

I was still calling Arthur and vice versa, to find out that Arthur was from Fort Defiance, Arizona and to my surprise he was back from AIT, so at the time I had just gotten my 1995 Sierra Truck from my dad. So one night I called him and he asked me to pick him up at the mall, then he asked if he could drive my truck and I let him and he showed me the back way to Ft. Defiance, where I would meet his brother. This was in November so it was pretty cold and Arthur had picked up some Southern Comfort and when I was freezing I would take a swig and then he started to play his guitar and sing to me. After midnight he drives us to this area in the dark areas of trees that are connected to the road with a dirt road and it happens to be located on the turn that is taken at the St. Michael’s turnoff, but in the opposite direction and from there we just went at it. I’m not sure if he is alive, but I wish I cold hug him, because without him I would have probably killed myself already given the factor that I would experience the most horrible situation not once but twice. So wherever you are Arthur, thank you for being mine for a bit and letting be me and saving me from something that would have been devastating to my family. You will always be in my heart no matter what.
