MST Problems

Unless you were in the military, this is something that may seem new, but is not. MST stands for Military Sexual Trauma and refers to any type of sexual assault that happens to our courageous men and women. Just know that if you have been a victim of MST that you are NOT ALONE. There are many others that have thought they were alone, but I am here as well as all those out there that would be willing to help you through such a trauma. However, not all the time does the military help you out. Sometimes they just kick you out because they don’t want to deal with this ordeal!

According to this site that I found called Shield of Sisters https://shieldofsisters.com/ and as of 2022, they have stated that over 36,000 female warriors have reported such an experience, but as usual most people think, “I report and then I will end up with the consequences”. Some people that have dealt with this is never really helped, because somehow the service will make it look like you couldn’t cope and shove you out. I know this from experience, all to well, since I was also pushed out as if I could not make it. Plus I was on suicide watch towards the end of my service and after dealing with what I had to, I just packed up and came home.

When I did get back to the states I ended up going to live with my fiance and then I lived there for 10 years in El Paso, Texas. Not one day goes by, that I do not think that I was robbed of being what I wanted to be in the Army. Also after getting out, meant that I did not have any benefits and could not get the mental health I would need, because then it would be years and years of trying to cope with this ordeal! Even today I am dealing with my mental health, but from time to time I get that feeling of suicide, but not recently. I have been seeing a psychiatrist at GIMC, so for now I am sane.
